When Jesse first came to Gary Rodney in 2005, his mother had noticed he was slightly unable to co-ordinate things, especially those involving balance. He was also reluctant to ride his bike.
Presenting complaints
Jesse had reduced corrected sight in both eyes due to a high degree of long-sightedness. He had no significant reading problems apart from excessive transposition and reversal of letters.
Recommendations
Glasses were prescribed to improve his near eyesight.
A movement programme was recommended in order to improve Jesse’s visual spatial skills, as well as his delayed balance and bilateral integration skills. These exercises were simple and designed to be practiced at home.
Success
Towards the end of the treatment, Jesse, his mother and teacher all noticed a huge difference in his writing with letters now written the correct way around. He exhibited more confidence in his school work. Jesse’s balance had also improved greatly and he could now ride with speed and turn circles.
He experienced great improvements in distance vision and depth perception.
